Senators' Nick Cousins: Agrees to one-year deal
2d ago
Cousins inked a one-year, $800,000 contract with Ottawa on Thursday, RDS.ca reports.
Cousins will be suiting up for his seventh NHL franchise over the course of his 10-year NHL career, having most recently won the Stanley Cup with the Panthers. With Florida last year, he saw action in 69 regular-season contests in which he generated seven goals and eight assists while dishing out 129 hits. Look for Cousins to fill a bottom-six role with his new team that won't include power-play minutes. As such, his fantasy impact figures to be minimal at best.

Sharks' Logan Couture: Not skating yet
8d ago
Couture (groin) is working out but has not started skating yet, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports Friday.
Per general manager Mike Grier, things remain according to Couture's recovery plan. It's not a particularly encouraging development to hear Couture isn't skating with just a month before training camp. As such, it wouldn't be surprising if he missed part of the preseason schedule at a minimum. The 35-year-old was limited to just six games last season, so it'll likely take him some time to get back up to speed once he hits the ice again.

Predators' David Edstrom: Sent to Nashville
8d ago
Edstrom was acquired along with Magnus Chrona and a 2025 conditional first-round pick by Nashville from San Jose in exchange for Yaroslav Askarov, Nolan Burke and a 2025 third-round selection Friday.
It was the second time in over five months that Edstrom has been dealt. He was selected in the first-round -- 32nd overall -- in 2023 by the Golden Knights and spent the 2023-24 campaign with Frolunda HC of the SHL, where he had seven goals and 19 points in 44 regular-season games. Edstrom is a two-way center who likely will become a solid No. 3 center in the NHL.

Tyler Angle: Signs with German club
8d ago
Angle secured a one-year contract with Dusseldorfer EG (DEL) on Friday.
Angle saw action in just two NHL games for the Blue Jackets last season in which he garnered five hits, one block and zero points while averaging 8:20 of ice time. That brings the winger's total NHL contests up to four, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that Columbus didn't re-sign him in the offseason. While he is just 23 years of age, Angle's move to Europe may still signal the end of his NHL playing career.

Blue Jackets' Cole Sillinger: Grabs two-year deal
10d ago
Sillinger agreed to terms on a two-year, $4.5 million contract with Columbus on Wednesday.
Sillinger bounced back from a disappointing sophom*ore campaign, having recorded just 11 points in 64 games in 2022-23, with a 32-point 2023-24 season that included a career-best 19 helpers. The 21-year-old Columbus native is poised to remain in a middle-six role heading into the upcoming year and should be capable of continuing to put up 30-plus points in addition to 100-plus hits.

Sharks' Logan Couture: Progressing in recovery
11d ago
Couture (groin) is continuing to work toward being fully fit for the 2024-25 campaign, with coach Ryan Warsofsky telling reporters Tuesday, "He's working extremely hard. He's in San Jose. He's been in San Jose. He's training. He's working out. I know he's feeling good, and I know when Logan is feeling good, we will let him play. We have a really good plan as an organization for Logan to get him back healthy," per Max Miller of The Hockey News.
Couture was limited to a mere six games last season due to his groin problem but appears to be trending in the right direction. What to expect out of the veteran center will be tricky after essentially losing a full season, but he did reach both the 20-goal and 55-point thresholds in each of the prior two campaigns. Assuming he is ready for Opening Night, Couture could shift to the wing in order to allow rookie Macklin Celebrini to feature at center on the top line.
